About this tour

In the heart of Nørrebro lies Assistens Cemetery, a green oasis amidst the city, used daily for recreation by both locals and visitors. The cemetery is also the final resting place for a number of intriguing Danish individuals, each with a unique story to tell.

On this tour, you will learn about these individuals' lives, deaths, and surroundings. Along the way, you will pass by 15 grave sites, including those of H.C. Andersen, Natasja Saad, Søren Kirkegaard, Hans Christian Scherfig, Dan Turèll, and many more.

The sound walk is created and narrated by Stine Helweg in 2024 and is offered free of charge by Copenhagen Cemeteries in collaboration with StoryHunt.

The tour begins inside the main entrance at Kapelvej 2. You can take the tour during the cemetery's opening hours, which are from 7 to 22 in the summer and from 7 to 19 in the winter.

We wish you a great experience!
