If you've booked StoryHunt's studio, this article will guide you through 1) preparing for your recordings, 2) recording in the studio, and 3) transferring your files to StoryHunt Creator. If you haven't booked a slot, contact us to do so.

1. Preparations

Before entering the studio, I recommend that you read this entire article. This way, you'll have an idea of what to do and can prepare any questions. I also recommend practicing your script thoroughly to achieve a natural flow.

2. Recordings

When you're ready to record, we have a computer available for you to use freely. The computer runs on Mac OS and is set up for audio recording. We recommend using the Voice Memos program, which you can find at the bottom of the screen.

Once in the program, we recommend creating a new track for each stop. This will make it easier to export your files and integrate them into StoryHunt Creator. You can edit the name of each file by clicking on the file name on the left. See an example below:

Recordings in Apple Memos on Mac

When recording, pay attention to the following three things:

  • It's important to keep your mouth very close to the pop filter.
  • Ensure that the sound doesn't hit either the top or bottom in the visualization.
  • Speak slowly and clearly – since people can't see your gestures, your voice is the only tool you have to convey with.

After recording, you can use Voice Memos' built-in filter to improve the sound. Do this by clicking on the icon to the left of "Edit" and turn on the filter at the bottom.

3. Exporting

Once you've recorded all your stories, you need to transfer the files to your own computer so you can upload them to StoryHunt Creator. Do this by uploading the files to a folder on Google Drive from the studio computer. Then, you can download them from your own computer and upload everything to StoryHunt Creator.

I recommend naming the files so you can recognize them when retrieving them from your own computer.

Folder where files should be placed from the studio computer:
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1NczGP0d-Y1lC93MoWy-p85sUpsa0r-YN

When you drag the files into this folder, they are automatically converted to the correct format. You can then download the files on your own computer through the link below. Since the files need to be converted, it might take a few minutes before they appear in the folder.

Folder where files can be downloaded from your own computer:

Once you've downloaded the files to your own computer, you can easily upload them to your tour in StoryHunt Creator.

NB: All files are moved to an archive folder 48 hours after they are uploaded, so remember to upload them to StoryHunt Creator in time.
